Dr. Kraft is an internist and a clinical pharmacologist. He is the director of the Division of Pharmacology and Physiology, and of the Clinical Research Unit (CUR) at Thomas Jefferson University. The CRU, located within the Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, specializes in Phase I trials in federally funded and industry sponsored investigations. He has an interest in the development of novel therapeutics in the neonatal opioid withdrawal syndrome (NOWS). He works in optimization of NOWS therapeutics along the axis of identification, measurement and treatment of the condition. He oversees human subject research protections in the 18 hospital Jefferson network. Nationally, he has held leadership in a many professional organizations and currently serves as President of the American Society for Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics and chair of the FDA Pharmaceutical Science and Clinical Pharmacology Advisory Committee (PSCP). He maintains a clinical practice in vascular medicine with a focus on venous thrombosis.
