Matthew M. Riggs, PhD is the Chief Science Officer at Metrum Research Group (MetrumRG). He has been with MetrumRG for over 16 years. Matthew coordinates and connects the scientific operations of MetrumRG, through its research and scientific priorities, with MetrumRG’s mission and goals. He also leads research efforts to develop and integrate translational, quantitative, and systems pharmacology within model-driven therapeutics development.
Matthew received his B.S. in Pharmacy, Magna Cum Laude and with distinction, and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Connecticut School of Pharmacy. Following a post-doctoral fellowship at GloboMax LLC (now ICON Development Solutions), Matthew enjoyed nearly 5 years in Clinical Pharmacology at Pfizer Global Research and Development. While at MetrumRG, In 2019, he was the co-recipient of the International Society of Pharmacometrics (ISoP) Innovation Award and was also designated as an ISoP Fellow.
While at MetrumRG, Matthew has served as chairperson of the American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists (AAPS) System Pharmacology Focus Group and the American Society of Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics (ASCPT) Systems Pharmacology Community, was a member of the International Society of Pharmacometrics (ISoP) Quantitative Systems Pharmacology (QSP) Special Interest Group Steering Committee, was the ASCPT Quantitative Pharmacology Network's representative for the Society's Webinar Committee, and currently serves on the ASCPT Scientific Planning Committee and JPKPD Editorial Advisory Board. He has also taught and mentored graduate students through the University of Connecticut Biomedical Engineering Department.
