Dr. Alvarez, MD, specializes in Clinical Pharmacology and Allergy/Immunology. As an Assistant Professor of Medicine and Pharmacology at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, he serves as the Co-Director of The Johns Hopkins Center of Excellence for Anaphylaxis and as Associate Director of the Johns Hopkins Drug Development Unit. His research is dedicated to improving the diagnosis and treatment of drug hypersensitivity reactions, integrating informatics, clinical, and basic science research to enhance our understanding of drug allergy mechanisms. Dr. Alvarez-Arango has trained with and collaborated alongside esteemed drug allergy experts such as Dr. Franklin Adkinson, Dr. Maria Torres, and Dr. Elizabeth Phillips. His research is supported by the National Institutes of Health and the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology (AAAAI) and has been published in peer-reviewed journals such as the Journal of Allergy and Immunology and the New England Journal of Medicine.
