Sumit Basu, PhD

Senior Principal Scientist
Novartis

Sumit Basu is currently a senior principal scientist at Novartis, where he serves as the clinical pharmacology lead of multiple programs in oncology portfolios across stages of clinical development. Before Novartis, he worked as a Senior Scientist at Merck and a Clinical Pharmacologist at AbbVie to provide quantitative clinical pharmacology support in drug discovery and development in multiple therapeutic areas (Infectious, cardiometabolic, and Oncology). Sumit obtained his PhD from the University of Houston and completed his postdoctoral training in Pharmacometrics at the Center of Pharmacometrics and Systems Pharmacology, University of Florida. He also completed a 5-month postdoctoral ORISE fellowship from the Office of Clinical Pharmacology, FDA. He has published over 25 peer-reviewed articles and has served on numerous committees and initiatives within ACCP.
